Its great location on the Colorado River, at the confluence with Gunnison River makes it the perfect location for tourists. The name of the city comes from the “Grand River”, and also from the “Junction” between Colorado and Gunnison. Besides the great location, the land is good for agriculture, especially fruits. Here, farmers grow their crops for more than 200 years, being an important provider of agricultural products even for the other areas of Colorado.

The economy here is also well developed. Besides fruits, cattle farming and mining are also important activities. Grand Junction was one of the least affected cities in Colorado by the financial recession in 2008, which says something about the potential of this area.
Grand Junction is the largest city on the western side of Colorado. With more than 60 000 people, Grand Junction is a cultural, administrative and commercial center of the Western Colorado.
Grand Junction developed because it is situated at the intersection of Green River and Continental Divide. Besides the 60 000 people living in the actual city, there are also 150 000 people living in the Metropolitan area.
